Poor Credit Card Service
Hi Joel,
I have decided to close my BofA checking and credit card accounts due to poor service. However, I have approximately 300,000 unused miles remaining on Alaska's Mileage Plan.
My questions are:
1. Will I loose the mileage if I cancel the credit card?
2. Could I have the mileage transferred to another credit card mileage plan?
Thanks in advance,
York Knowlton

Dear York,
I commend you for insisting on superior service. As long as you transferred your miles to your Alaska Airlines Account you will not lose any miles. Be sure that you've done this before you close your account and make sure that the points from your card are being counted as Alaska Airlines Miles.
As for your second question, I would keep your miles with Alaska Airlines, unless you have a compelling reason to have them with another airline, such as you do not plan to fly Alaska Airlines any longer. It is possible to transfer miles into different accounts, but it usually is not a good idea because you tend to lose as much as 60% of the miles in the process.
Good luck.
