Consolidating Miles

I have miles in both NW Airlines World Perks programs & Delta's Skymiles program. Can I combine the two miles?

Although the two airlines joined forces in the SkyTeam alliance, mile or points cannot be combined for an award.

You can combine awards for one trip. So, if you and a friend want to fly somewhere, you can use miles from one account for your ticket, and another account for your friend's ticket.

You can also earn miles in a different account. For example, if you're flying Delta, but want Northwest miles, you simply ask the reservation agent to book your ticket "coded" for Northwest miles.

My best recommendation is to start consolidating miles with the alliance partner you think you'll use the most.
