Cigarettes into the UK
I will be travelling home from Thailand soon and am wondering if I will be able to bring maybe 100 cartons of cigrettes into England for friends and family if I declare them am willing to pay the duty and and how much duty will I have to pay? Thanks.

Dear John,
As a general rule, you can bring 200 cigarettes into the UK duty free.
For additional information, go to the UK Customs and Excise web site (www.hmce.gov.uk/public/yourcust/yourcust.htm).
