Mock-Booking

I read your article about mock-booking first to see if you have a chance at

getting the upgrade, why not book a full fare, fully refundable seat in

first class, then just let it expire? I know this does not confirm your

getting the upgrade on the "real" ticket, but it at least reserves one seat.

I suppose this is probably "illegal" with the airlines, but thought I would

ask.

Hi Suzanne,

You could do this but if the airline catches on, they can blacklist you from booking flights with them. In addition, it actually takes away from the potential upgrade inventory since the system shows the seat being booked as a revenue seat.
