Question:
Can you tell me how to drive to the outlet near Florence?
Answered by The Fearless Shopper
Dear Sybil,
Factory outlet shopping at the Mall is about an hour from Florence. From A1, take the Incisa exit, then SS69 towards Pontassieve; turn left before Leccio (signs for Dolce & Gabbana and Fendi); when the road forks, you can go right for Fendi/Celine/Loewe and left for Dolce & Gabbana.
These driving directions come from: http://www.italy.artviva.com/essential_italy/bargain_shopping_outlets_florence_milan_venice_rome_italy.
I have never driven there so double check this route with your hotel or a local source when you are in Italy. If you prefer rail, take the train to Rignano sull’Arno, then it’s a short taxi ride. For shuttle services or rental cars with drivers, reserve online with http://www.enjoyflorence.com/. To get a map in advance, you might try www.viamichelin.com, a route planner for Europe, or other online sources such as www.italy-maps.com or a good travel bookstore.
If you are referring to Lo Spaccio, near Parma, where there are new outlets for Gucci, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana and Fendi, check directions and hours of operation at http://www.intuscany.net/guides/shopping_spacci_3.htm. For Fidenza Village outlet shopping, click on their website: http://www.fidenzavillage.com/Fidenza/home.asp
Happy shopping and safe driving,
