“…to Americans going abroad Europe offers art, culture, and free expression in a way that few cultures can. For generations, Americans have gone to Europe to learn. And to break free.”
—From the Introduction by Mary Morris

A Woman’s Europe captures the magic of the Swiss Alps, the French countryside, the streets of Moscow, the isles of Greece, the country roads of Ireland, and much more with a uniquely female perspective. Some women travel solo, others with friends, family, or partners, but all have been drawn to Europe—for adventure, romance, culture, cuisine and art. Whether searching for their Irish ancestry, savoring Italian delicacies, or striving to understand the conflict in Bosnia, the 37 writers in A Woman’s Europe find inspiration and fulfillment in their journeys and satisfy the reader with illuminating tales.

In A Women’s Europe readers will:

  • Hang out all night with singing firemen in Athens
  • Parachute, free as a bird, over Scotland
  • Get milk for your muesli right from a cow in the Swiss Alps
  • Restore a castle in the French countryside
  • Find a place among the eccentrics at the British Museum
  • Savor a meal that seduces in Venice
  • Enjoy a Christmas from another century in Vienna
  • Abandon your itinerary in Prague to run off with a kindred spirit
  • & much more.
