Several foreigners have been the victims of sling-shot attacks along the riverfront in Phnom Penh in an area frequented by tourists. The attacks have occurred on Sothearos Boulevard on the river side of the street in a district of restaurants, bars and internet cafes. The projectiles have been marbles or ball bearings and they can cause intense pain and serious injury. One person reportedly lost an eye. A similar attack occurred a year ago in the same area but no one was arrested. Cambodian police have stepped up their patrols in the area as a deterrent.
