In an attempt to lure tourists back to East Africa, the African Trade Insurance Agency is developing an insurance package to cover terrorist attacks. Previously such coverage has been costly, but the new policy is meant to be affordable for the average traveler. It will be available by the end of the year and will cover travel in eleven countries in eastern and southern Africa, including Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
