An Egyptian man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for stabbing two tourists in February in retaliation for the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. The wounded tourists were from Australia and Norway. The attack was a rare case of anti-American violence here after a series of anti-Western attacks in the 1990s that targeted the tourism industry. The last attack against tourism here was in 1997. Most people recognize that individuals are not the government, and they appreciate Americans visiting during this difficult period.
