Anti-Americanism is currently popular in Egyptian entertainment, with theater performances and popular music satirizing and attacking U.S. foreign policy. Similar sentiment is common throughout the Arab world, but invariably people make the distinction between individual Americans and the actions of the U.S. government. By and large Americans are treated with warmth and respect in Egypt and other Arab countries. People want to know how Americans feel about international affairs, but usually they won’t hold travelers responsible for the policies of their government.
