The 60th anniversary of D-Day will be celebrated June 5-7 in Normandy with 16 ceremonies attended by some 20,000 people. Seventeen heads of state and government will attend the June 6 ceremony, and France is mobilizing 9,000 soldiers and 6,000 gendarmes to control disturbances and prevent terrorist attacks. There is no evidence that such attacks are likely, but security will be tight.
