An indigenous ethnic group in Accra called the Ga bans drumming or noisemaking from mid-May to early June each year, and this ban has been challenged by some churches on the grounds that it violates their right to freely practice their own religion, which may involve drumming. Skirmishes have occurred because of this conflict and the potential for further violence exists. Unless planning to worship, avoid churches, especially on Sunday mornings when drumming celebrations may occur.
