Tensions have continued to rise here. Demonstrations were held outside the U.S. Embassy over the weekend without incident, but hundreds of demonstrators attacked cars they believed to be driven by Westerners in Bogor near Jakarta Sept. 25. Radical groups opposed to U.S. policy tried to identify Americans and remove them from the country in Solo Sept. 23-24, and also tried to intercept Americans at Solo’s international airport. Similar “sweeps” occurred in Bandung and Lampung.
