Conflict in Israel and the West Bank has spawned heated protests throughout the world that often have expressed anti-American sentiments. These demonstrations could become violent and Americans, in particular, should avoid them. Rallies have occurred in expected places such as Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, and Morocco, and in less likely places such as France, where a policeman was stabbed and severely injured, Germany, where two Jewish Americans were attacked and beaten, and Italy. Protests in Arab countries such as Egypt and Jordan have the potential to put pressure on these West-leaning governments and further destabilize the region.
