The British government lifted a ban on flights by UK carriers to Mombasa Sept. 4, more than two months after allowing a resumption of flights to Nairobi. Both bans were lifted because of improved security conditions and close cooperation between UK and Kenyan security officials. The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office travel advice still states, however, that there is a high threat of global terrorism in Kenya, and the U.S. State Department still advises Americans to defer non-essential travel here.
