Dear Joel,

I am a military wife looking to visit my husband who is stationed at Yuma Sir Station in Arizona. I want to leave February 9, PM, and return February 12 whenever. My husband will be deployed February 14th to Iraq. That is his b-day, my b-day is the 22nd and our anniversary, 2 years, is the 27th. So, needless to say, I would like to make this visit a memorable one for the both of us. I would depart from BWI airport. I would like the best money saving tips and suggestions for airline, hotel and car rental. A wonderful restaurant would also be nice. Any suggestions and/or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Roslyn (looking for great deals)

Hi Roslyn,

Thank you for your husband’s service. Other than the usual tips of looking at alternative airports, and shopping the internet for the best hotel and car rental, I would call the hotel and car rental companies and inform them of all these occasions. There is a lot of concern for our forces especially in the circumstances you describe.

Most likely for the hotel and car rental you can get a government rate which usually is substantially lower than normal rates.

You might also mention the details to the gate agent at the airport to see if you can get an upgrade.

Have a nice trip,

Joel
