Dear Karen,

I’m not aware of any restrictions on the amount of cigarettes you can pack in your suitcase for personal consumption when flying from one state to another within the U.S. If your luggage exceeds the air carrier’s weight limit, however, they will charge you extra based on their rules.

For any additional questions, contact the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms in Washington, DC at their web site: www.atf.gov/tobacco/rules/index.htm.

If you are coming from another country, check “Know Before You Go” for regulations on tobacco products on the government’s web site.
