St. Petersburg will celebrate its 300th anniversary at the end of May, and numerous heads of state will attend official ceremonies and meetings. The government intends to control hotel rooms and possibly limit visas to official delegations, so visits to the city may be difficult to arrange. Museums and palaces may be closed to the public and traffic may be severely disrupted.
