A pipe bomb exploded in a beachfront restaurant near Cape Town Nov. 28, injuring at least 43 people, some seriously. The bombing at the popular cove of Camp’s Bay was reminiscent of the August 1998 blast in a Planet Hollywood restaurant that was blamed on an Islamic militant group. No one has claimed responsibility and a reward has been offered. Bombings in the Cape Town area have been reduced by almost 90 percent in the past year through anti-terrorism efforts, but this latest incident confirms that serious threats still exist.
