Hotel employees began a strike June 9 and 2,000 riot police stormed the hotel June 29 to break up the sit-in. Dozens of protesters were hurt, windows were smashed and the elevators were knocked out of service. Union officials vowed to wage more protests, so a repeat performance is not out of the question.
