Some 2,000 people were ordered off five beaches at the Mediterranean resort of Sant Carles de la Rapita Aug. 11 because of bomb threats alleged to have been made by ETA. The Basque terrorist group exploded two small bombs on Spain’s north coast Aug. 7 but no one was injured. Spanish authorities have been on the alert for ETA attacks at tourist areas this summer, and thus far no one has been injured. The Sant Carles de la Rapita beaches reopened after police with sniffer dogs had checked the area.
