If you are traveling here this summer, and plan on renting a car, be extremely cautious as you get used to driving on the left, especially in the first few days, as you get over jet lag. A few days of driving should suffice to make you feel fairly comfortable, but the speed of traffic, ubiquitous roundabouts, and narrow country roads make for a set of hazards that call for a high degree of alertness. Ask locals about parking rules and the meaning of any signs that confuse you. Even if you aren’t driving, take special care crossing the road: first look right when you cross the street, not left!
